The failures that interfere with establishing successful relationships for individuals are quite similar to the mistakes that cost us customers and brand equity. Fight or flight syndrome leaves out an important – and destructive – third reaction. Freeze. Are you doing the business equivalent of the suicidal bunny routine? Two-year-olds have it right. If adults asked “why” as many times per day as the average two-year-old, what influence would that have on the way – and the amount – we learn? How often I have observed this to be true at work. People would get into all kinds of drama that caused frustration and sadness to everyone involved, and when you tried to help them mediate it – or just stop it! – they resisted the help. It would become clear that the drama made them happy. |
